Building Our Classroom Community With Stone Soup

Our classroom turned into a community kitchen as we made "stone soup" together. After reading the folktale Stone Soup, where villagers each contribute a small ingredient to make a shared meal, we decided to make our own.

Each student brought one ingredient, and eagerly helped with every step—chopping, stirring, and adding spices. As the soup simmered, we talked about how our classroom is like the pot of soup: each of us brings something unique, and together we make our class better and stronger.

Finally, we shared our soup, savoring not only the flavors but also the experience of working together. Our stone soup project was a simple yet powerful reminder that everyone in our classroom village has something valuable to offer.
